Mauritius was wonderful.
Monday - we had a meeting with the Virgin rep who told us what was happening with the wedding. seemed like meeting for the best part of the week until our wedding day.
Tuesday - meeting with our Wedding co-ordinator, Melissa, at the hotel 'Veranda Palmar'. She went through our wedding day with us telling us what would happen and then we had to choose flowers, table decorations and what drinks we would like. That took all morning. Then it was off to the beach.
Wednesday - A taxi picked us up at 8.00am and off we went to Port Louis to go the 'legal stuff'. Another Wedding co-ordinator met us at Port Louis and took us to the town hall to check our paperwork was all in order and our details were correct. No - my passport number was wrong so that had to be changed.
Then it was off to the Supreme Court of Mauritius to check and sign more paperwork. This time they picked up that Sean's middle name is spelt differently on his passport to the wedding registration form, (Gerard, one 'r' passport had 2 'r's) so that had to be corrected. After that held us up we had to swear on affidavit that we were who we said we were and off again.
Next was to see the guy who would be marrying us in Belle Mare. He asked us how long we'd been together and that the wedding would be better at 3.00pm instead of at 4.00pm (as we were previously told). Then it was back to the beach!
Thursday - chilling at the beach and pool until the rain came down and it poured down all afternoon and into the early evening. Melissa came to find me and said that the wedding would be in the reception area. I was devastated, all that way and money and we would be married inside because of the bloody rain! We could have done that at home.
Friday - Our Wedding Day! Well panic over it was the most beautiful sunny day ever. Fingers crossed that it would stay dry all day. Got my nails done and had a hand massage in the spa. Couldn't eat any lunch I was too nervous. Moved all my wedding outfit over to Hollie's room and Gaynor came to do my hair while Hollie did my make up. We sent the men and Ben over to Sean to get ready. That was it - all ready to go. Not a cloud in the sky! The wedding was on the beach.
